Happy Father's Day

A break from lofty intentions! I would like to wish each and every a Happy's Father's and keep up the good fight.

Sex and Religion 2

A response to the first of this ongoing series of sex and religion was a response to The Adam and Eve dilemma as I now dub it.A gentleman suggested that their eyes were open to anal sex.I found the suggestion something to ponder but it doesn't fully cover the entire scope of the complexes of religion and sex.

I also find out quite fascinating that the only response was in reference to anal sex which brings me to the second part of this discussion religion and same sex relationships. While some eastern religions have theologies certain aspects of same sex relationship or cross gendered entities, the Abrahamic based religions, as I call the two major religions of the western world ,totally condemns it.

There are many references to things as temple prostitutes in Judeo-Christians manuscripts. It got me thinking why would a temple a place of worship need prostitutes. And from what I can gather it is seemed to be used as a way to connect to the deities, which further strenghthens my belief that the knowledge of which The occupants of The Garden received.

Temple prostitution in my view is man's way of trying to connect to God through the process that actually caused the disconnection. The link had been severed when Adam and Eve's eyes were opened .They had discovered sexuality outside of the realm which God had intended. The deception by the serpent further manifest itself through temple prostitution to try to defile further the relationship between man and God.

Pleasure had becomes man's god and he had now sullen even the highest form of expression between the Creator and the creation, worship.Through temple prostitution man in a perverse duality engage in Deity worship then negated it with humanistic worship.Homosexual practices where prevalent in these temples. This was a subconscious acknowledgement to the plot the serpent had crafted.

In the Bible and other Abrahamic manuscripts temple prostitution and homosexual practices seemed to always be mentioned when there is a complete deterioration in the relationship between God and man.

Even today in many churches temple prostitution still exists in a subtle but deadly way.Pastors and lay person "preying" on women and children to satisfy their lustful urges in the very places where God is to be exalted. They same to take it as there sacred duty to defile the place of worship. While I am not condemning sex ,on the contrary I am just pointing out the strong connection of sex to religion.

Sex and Religon

According to the Bible when Adam and Eve,deceived by the serpent, had eaten of the fruit from the forbidden Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil their eyes were opened and they covered themselves.

It is interesting that the first information for them that was processed was that which dealt with their sexuality ie their nakedness. In most variants of the Judeo-Christian religion and most religions, what you cannot and can do hinges on the way you cannot or can control your sexual desire.

I am putting forth to you that the Knowledge that Adam and Eve received was in direct relation to the fact of how they were to become complete again before God through sex.Instead of them waiting for God the Creator to show them, by eating the fruit they saw it through their own eyes.Love became lust. The intertwining of man and woman which is a reflection of the completeness of God was now viewed through human eyes.

Sex, a major part of human psyche, has been over time used to stimulate human beings to performed desired action. It is said SEX SELLS.Sex not only sells but controls. The images, connotations, doctrines etc. of/on sex is used to direct our belief system in a desired path.Corporations, religious, political and civic leaders use the powerful tool of sex to control the masses.

The power of persuasion is rooted in the fact of how magnetic the persuader can be.How can he/she draw people to them to follow them.Magnetism has to do with attraction or repulsion so does sex or sexiness. Can one attract a suitable mate.If one cannot the chances to procreate or fulfill sexual desires is slim to none (repulsion).

In the field of religion if you can control the way people respond to sexual impetus then you can indoctrinate them.Men have been told that if they blew themselves up they would receive virgins in the afterlife. What other reasons would you want virgins but to deflower them. You cannot fulfill your sexual desires on earth but you can in heaven. If you can redirect sexual desire, which is so powerful in human beings, you can direct human actions or reactions.

Purity is sexual chastity. If you become chastened then you can become a conqueror.True or not one cannot deny that sex and religion are intertwined, joined at the hip.One seems not to coexist without the other.

John Canoe

This old year ended  and the new year started with a bang in the Bahamas.Junkanoo perhaps one of the most unique  festival in the western hemisphere is celebrated and cherished.Junkanoo a street festival held in the streets of Nassau as well as other island in the Bahamas on Boxing Day ( holiday after Christmas ) and New Years morning.

Junkanoo is  a festival I have seen mentioned in a slave narrative and  goes back during the time of slavery.I am no historian but it seems it is a mixture of  African tradition and New World slavery celebrations.Today it has evolved into a colorful display of crepe paper and artistry and the sweet sounds of drums cowbells and horns.

Junkanoo to me is the only original Bahamian cultural activity left.A festival created by us,performed by us and watched by the world. The sound of the cowbell is like none other. While all music festival can have drums, horns and elaborate costumes none that I know of has the kalik, kalik sound of the cowbells.

As rituals go either it be religous or secular, Junkanoo seems to posses the participants and causes the spectator to be caught up in the spirit of it all. When you sit in the bleacher or stand on the sideline you cannot help but feel the pulse and rhythm of the music as ,the moving heartbeat ( as I have once heard it described) goes pass you.

Junkanoo will probably last for a very long time because the children fresh from their mothers bosom can be seen  participating on the parade. It is the one thing in the Bahamas that has been consistently been passed down from generation to generation.Once outlawed by colonial establishment it is now an integral part of the fabric of Bahamian society.Bay Street the symbol of the elite financial machinery in the Bahamas, for two days of the year is filled with people from all walks of life.Bay Street and its sister Shirley St. become filled with sweet body moving sounds and  colours from the entire spectrum of the rainbow.

Junkanoo the Day the People take over Bay Street!

Death of Sunflower

Today I lost one of my pets a hen named Sunflower. My family owns several pets, parakeets, fishes, and two hens Marigold and Sunflower. We found Sunflower today dead.We believe a rodent attacked her as we have seen an increase in them since a nearby property was cleared down and a building went up.

I never thought I would become so attached to the birds but through caring for them I had grown to love them.Their interaction always fascinated me.Now Marigold went up on the perch and had to be forced to come down.We have taken steps to eliminate the rodents but we will miss Sunflower a real "scaredy chicken".She will be missed!

Why most people are idiots pt 2

Most people are showing their idiocy in these so called tough economic times.I sympathize with those who have lost their jobs or homes to a certain extent ( some people were not qualify in the first place). The bemoaning of hard times by most folks is becoming annoying. There are those out there who because they can't get their latte from their exclusive overpriced coffee shops are weeping about hard times.Families who can't afford to go out to restaurants as often as they could, they are crying hard times.Bankers have problems so the whole world suppose to have problems.

My friends hard times is waking up to the sound of gunfire and bombs falling.Hard times is having to flee your home and becoming a refugee living in squalor.Hard times isn't having money for food but not having food period. Those are just some examples of hard times. As my mother always say," you think you have it hard, check down the road".

These are not hard times these are times when most of us just need to prioritize and focus on what is important. The market is correcting itself.Greed has exposed so many.Time to stop living of others wealth and become more industrious and do some work.Time to stop being idiots!

Why most people are idiots and the Somalian piracy!

Most people are idiots because they hold too dear the idea of individualism and the belief in self. The great thing about being an individual in a society is that through collectivism we foster the proper functioning of any place of cohabitation.Different individuals with different traits, character, cultural background coming together to accomplished one common goal. That goal is to create a tolerable environment where one can live.

Folks nowadays have their own individual goals and ideals that do not complement the advancement of the human race.Everyone pulling in so many different directions. Then at the end of it all feeling unwanted and not being a part of anything. If there was more faith ,for the most part,in each other and the idea of perfecting our daily lives for the betterment of all, then more people will have a sense of wholeness.

This brings now the correlation of that idea and the Somalian pirate threat. If you are one to keep up with worldwide news you have heard about the acts of piracy of the coast of the African country of Somalia.Basically local fisherman have banded with militants and other local entities and have formed rather industrious ( many may beg to differ) infamous trade of hijacking ships.Different individuals with one common goal, that is to collect ransom.

The international community in the meantime seem helpless or inept to stop this scourge. While individual millitaries have been successful in killing and capturing some of the pirates, they ,the pirates, continue on in their treacherous trade. The whole world is sitting back and watching and many have begun to question the actual necessity for established government and authorities.

The biggest problem is the individualism. Each country is only interested in protecting their interest and citizens. This threat is actually a blight on international trade and like America made the whole world believe about Islamic fanaticism, a threat to the world. If the pirates continue to have some degree of success in Somalia it is almost definite that other areas where naval trade is a necessity, will have their own brands of piracy.

The nations involve with their different geo-political ideologies must come on one accord. Whether it be changing international laws which govern the sea or attacking the the problem with the ferocity as terrorism ,solutions must be formed and implemented. All countries involve must have the common goal of eliminated this threat and adapting to each circumstance.

It is only left to time to see how the world will respond. In the meantime I might try find me a wooden leg and eye patch.Who knows their might be another career for me .Arggggggh me mateys!

You big dummy!

Sanford and Son was the greatest television show ever. For those of you who just came to Earth from Pluto, this was a show about a black junk/antique dealer played by Redd Foxx and his son Lamont played by Demond Wilson. The show was centered around the father, Fred G.Sanford and his schemes and plots to get rich or enhance his junk "empire".

What made the show so great that it showed the comedic side of black people without having their eyes bulging or lips thickened.Sanford quick wit, hair brain schemes and supporting cast was something to look forward to weekly.Unlike today's shows which are just conversations taped for small screen.

Sanford was able to say a lot of things we wanted to say and every black family has someone like Sanford.A relative who always has a get rich quick plan and/or a saucy tongue.Redd Foxx's timing was impeccable and if one looked closely one could almost see the improvisations ,almost.

Demond Wilson character, Lamont was the perfect complement.Level headed compared to his father's stubbornness. The fact that he cared about his father who had raised him by himself after his mother died ,added a level of reality that some could relate to.Every other cast member added another level to the show that caused the show to be one of ,if not the greatest show ever aired. For five of the six years it aired (1971-1977) ,it ranked in the top ten.

What made it so special for me is that it was one of the shows I watched with my paternal Grandparents.Growing up I spent a great amount of time by my Grandparents and the local tv station had pick up its syndication.Like the original show it was aired on Friday nights at 8pm.I can fondly remember the Friday nights my Grandparents and I would be in their bedroom huddled around the black and white RCA and laughing our heads off.The hard coarse laughter of my Grandfather made me even laugh harder.Good Times.

Like Redd Foxx my Grandfather has passed on now.I know they are both looking down at me.I am pouring out a drink for them both ,some Ripple with a splash of Cola I call it a Cripple.Only true Sanfordnites would get that one.You big dummy!

Whats the deal with Bill Maher

What is the deal with Bill Maher the so called social and political commentator. While so many are wooed by his antics, I find him neither humorous or insightful. He reminds me of when you are sitting around having a"doobie" with some friends and the one guy who ruins your high by talking a whole lot of nonsensical bullshit.

He constantly contradicts himself and is always apologizing.A real wishy washy guy. Speaking without thinking sounds like Tourette Syndrome.Bill needs to put down the bong and cease his ramblings which he tries to pass of as a monologue.

Thank God for freedom of speech (yes I do believe in God and I have no need to apologize) while he may be free to speak, I am free not to listen.

The current state of affairs

In this time of instability one thing is for certain, that change has arrived.

Gas and food prices have reached highs that have become unbearable.Nuclear confrontation is looming on the world stage between major players.Uncertainty and fear has risen in the hearts of most. Are we on the brink of a global catastrophe, another world war in the making?Have we reach the end times prophetically proclaimed by religious sects? What is it?

The view that I hold is that whatever it is there is still no need to fear the future. The economic crisis that we are facing is not a haphazard event but one that was set into motion from a few years back with the September 11 attacks being the catalyst. The attacks were horrific in their nature and these events threatened not only the stability of the United States but the world in general. It showed the world that religious zeal married to endless financial backing can create disastrous effects.

While most of us were paralyzed with fear through the terror that the attacks brought about ,an elite few saw something else. There is a rather cold and calculating saying that "when there is blood on the streets ,you buy land". In these times ,it is a shift from land to goods as the commodity of choice.

There is still a battle waging in the western world between mercantilism and the lassiez -faire approach to economies. The former built on the belief that the merchants should rule the economies while governments benefit from their taxation.Merchants prosper and the working class barely make it. The latter holding the view that everyone should be allowed to make a run for material gain with little or no government interference resulting in the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.Communism has collapsed and capitalistic approaches to socialistic societies have increased the number of participants in the battle. The war has moved further east.

Right now it seems that the mercantilism has resurfaced.Goods and services have reached remarkable highs.Governments who have mechanisms put into place to avoid collapses of economies are sitting on their hands waiting to see what transpires. There is clearly an attempt to raise the value of good and services to a higher level.

Oil and food prices, barring an alright global conflict, while eventually taper off.The result being that they will be higher than a decade ago.The question is will wages reach the same level? As usual the middle or working class bear the brunt of the fallout.Oil companies have made huge profits.Commodity brokers because of so many transactions earning huge commission fees.On the contrast ,banks built on the transaction of the average consumer have taken a hit.People are losing their homes and their investments. The middle class being squeeze once again.

A partial solution has risen.Instead of alright panic, consumers have cutback and streamlined. Some like myself are hopeful and are preparing themselves for the upturn and want to be in a position to take advantage of it.The cutback could results in high inflation ,an enemy to all. The fear of the "I" word has seemed to cause the merchants to retreat a little as seen in the sudden decline in oil prices. The speculators are being smoked out by the system.Even George Bush commented at the spectacle that has unfolded in our lifetime by stating "Wall street got drunk". Well here comes the hangover.

Even though things are tough a lot of folks are making it,barely but making it.These times should be use as a learning tool.I believe it has made people prioritize what is more important to them. The pursuit of happyness or just contentment and enjoying one lives through positive experiences and family fulfillment. The cutbacks in jobs should show us that to the corporate world we are just a cog that cannot either be replaced or simply redesigned out of existence. It should show governments that Franklin Roosevelt had the right idea by fathering social programmes to stimulate economic growth and stability. Is that not one of the duties of governments especially democratic ones?"FOR the people,by the people,of the people".If you fully divest yourself from the social upkeep of the populace then the populace have no need for you.You will become a parasitic organism that must be purged from the system.Valuable lessons never learned are costly mistakes repeated.
For all change has come.Let us grasp the positive aspects from it to improve the welfare of ourselves and each other and not just the "well faring" of a few .The direction of the current state of affairs should not be left to chance but to a collective, concerted effort to further advance the human race.I am an optimist at heart with a realist nature. These times while disheartening and discouraging are simply a test of inner fortitude and resilience. Those who can make it through will come out more purify. Those who have fallen should be assured that they can rebound.Hope should never be lost ,after all right now, that's all that we have.

Stay in the trenches.Hold the line.

Jobs

Most of us have some job or another which consumes at least 8 hours of our day. Some of us are fortunate enough to actually like what we do and our occupation is a part of us that we cherish. On the other hand some of us despise our 9 to 5 and it is only a means to pay bills.

What is a "job"? One definition of a job is, a regular activity performed in exchange for payment, a trade or occupation. If this is the case why is it companies want to make you believe that it is more than that?Of course profits drive most companies to get the most activity out its employees for the least amount of payment that they can get away with.So it would serve an employee well to get the most amount of payment for the least amount of work. A balance must be struck between employer and employee.

Most occupations only need you for a time i.e. until a contracted task has been accomplished or until your time of retirement. The employer gets what they need.It should only stand to reason that an employee gets what he needs.Sadly though too many persons have put all their energy, time and focus into an employer's bottom line while neglecting theirs.Upon disengagement these person fell hurt of betrayed because everyone always believe that they should be handled with kid's gloves because of their service.

The sooner you realize that a job is only an exchange, the better your occupational experience will become. They get what they need and you get what you need. A job is only a means for you to secure the necessities of life which are taking care of your family, yourself and render under the governments what is theirs ( the filthy bastards). No more no less.A job isn't my family ,I have one of those at homes.Co-workers need not be friends although it helps in the cohesion of a working environment.Your boss doesn't even have to like you personally but make sure you are doing what you are paid to do.If I am under a supervisor it isn't my job to find work,no need I do his and my job.

All said and done their is no real glory in being an "office rat", so expect none.Be ruthless in your pursuit for your ability to expand your financial bottom line.Never invest all of yourself into someone else's quota.Give what is required and take what is needed.

Glory is reserved for the battlefield, payment is preferred in the office space.
